The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in-Opposition (SPLM-IO) says it has completed the final preparations for the official opening of its new General Secretariat headquarters in Juba, ahead of a ceremony expected to bring together political leaders, diplomats, and peace partners.
The party’s Deputy Chairman and Minister of Mining, Hon. Lasuba Ludoru Wongo, on Saturday conducted an inspection visit to the new headquarters to assess the progress of the final logistical and technical arrangements.
He was received by the SPLM-IO Secretary-General and Minister of Energy and Dams, Hon. Agok Makur Kur, alongside senior party officials and government representatives.
Among those present during the inspection were Deputy Minister of Finance Hon. Thuk Truk Thuk, who heads the event’s Media Committee, Deputy Governor of Lakes State Luka Manga, who also serves as the party’s chairperson in the state, as well as party members from Juba and other states.
During the tour, Hon. Lasuba was briefed on the completion of preparations for the opening ceremony, including logistical and organizational arrangements.
He commended the Secretary-General and the various organizing committees for their commitment and dedication in ensuring the headquarters is ready for inauguration.
According to the party’s Information Secretariat, the opening ceremony will feature the attendance of political leaders, representatives of allied political parties, peace partners, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to South Sudan.
The program is also expected to include keynote addresses by SPLM-IO leaders outlining the party’s strategic priorities, future political agenda, and its position on the country’s upcoming general elections. Guests, political partners, and diplomats will also deliver solidarity and goodwill messages during the event.
The opening of the new General Secretariat headquarters is expected to mark a significant milestone for the SPLM-IO as it prepares for the next phase of its political activities ahead of the national elections.
