South Sudan Officials Visit Embassy, Legacy Site in Addis Ababa

South Sudan’s Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programmes, Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit, and Foreign Affairs Minister James Pitia Morgan visited the country’s embassy in Addis Ababa on Wednesday as part of their official engagement in Ethiopia.

The officials were briefed by embassy staff on the mission’s activities, ongoing work and progress.

Adut reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and South Sudan’s diplomatic missions abroad to strengthen the country’s diplomatic engagement.

The delegation also visited the President Kiir Legacy Site in Addis Ababa, which was allocated to South Sudan by the Ethiopian government in recognition of President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s longstanding relationship with Ethiopia and its people.

During the visit, Adut and Morgan, together with members of the delegation and embassy staff, planted trees at the site as part of efforts to preserve and further develop the legacy site.

The visit took place Sept. 2, 2026, according to South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
