President Kiir Sends Condolences to Tanzania’s President Over Husband’s Death

South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has expressed condolences to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
In a condolence message dated Sept. 7, President Kiir said he received the news of Hafidh’s death with “deep sorrow,” extending his sympathies to President Samia, her family and loved ones during the period of mourning.
“On behalf of my family, the Government and the people of the Republic of South Sudan, I convey my deepest condolences to President Suluhu, her family, and the people of the United Republic of Tanzania who are affected by his passing,” Kiir said.
The South Sudanese president said the people of South Sudan stand in solidarity with their Tanzanian counterparts during the difficult moment.
He also prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family and the people of Tanzania as they cope with the loss.
Hafidh Ameir Hassan was the husband of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who has served as Tanzania’s president since 2021.
