Energy and Gender Ministries Discuss Joint Efforts to Improve Basic Services

Minister of Energy and Dams Agok Makur has met with Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare Nunu Roda to discuss cooperation between the two ministries in improving basic services, particularly access to electricity for women and vulnerable communities.

The meeting, held Monday at the Ministry of Energy and Dams in Juba, focused on strengthening coordination between the two institutions and exploring ways energy services can contribute to women’s empowerment and broader social welfare.

Minister Agok said his ministry is prioritizing the expansion of electricity services to communities most in need, particularly women in rural areas.

He said improved access to energy could help reduce the burden on women while contributing to better social and economic conditions for families and communities.

Minister Nunu Roda commended the Ministry of Energy and Dams for its efforts, emphasizing the importance of stronger coordination to ensure that women and other vulnerable groups benefit from essential services.

She said improved access to basic services would contribute to family and community stability while supporting the government’s broader social welfare objectives.

The two ministers agreed to maintain regular coordination and convene technical meetings to develop practical mechanisms for implementing joint projects and initiatives.

The engagement is expected to strengthen collaboration between the two ministries in addressing service delivery challenges and promoting inclusive development, particularly for women and vulnerable populations.
