The South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA) has denied reports circulating on social media claiming that its Commissioner General, Amb. Moun Deng Ajuet, has been arrested or detained.

In a statement issued Monday, the SSRA described the reports as false and misleading, saying the Commissioner General is currently in Nimule as part of a three-day field visit by a high-level ministerial subcommittee.

The visit is aimed at assessing and addressing challenges affecting revenue administration and collection at the Nimule Border Port.

The SSRA said the Commissioner General on Monday attended a routine policy meeting involving the Minister of Interior, Hon. Aleu Ayieny, committee members Hon. Ezekiel L. Gatkuoth and Hon. Onyoti Adigo, security leaders and other officials.

According to the authority, the meeting focused on the management of the Nimule Border Port and there was no confrontation, arrest or detention involving the Commissioner General.

“The reports are false and misleading,” the SSRA said, urging the public to disregard unverified information circulating on social media.

The revenue authority called on the public to rely on official information from competent government authorities and verified sources.
