Unity State Governor Dr. Joseph Manytuil has pledged to provide food assistance, adequate shelters and clean drinking water to returnees and residents living at the Rotriak Transit Centre in Rubkona County.

The commitment was made during a courtesy visit to the transit centre in Budang Payam, where the governor was accompanied by senior state government officials, including the Commissioner of Rubkona County.

During the visit, community members raised concerns over the lack of clean drinking water, inadequate shelter and food shortages, describing them as the most urgent challenges facing families at the site.

In response, Governor Manytuil assured the residents that the state government would work to provide essential humanitarian support to improve living conditions at the transit centre.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the reintegration of returnees, saying land would be allocated to those willing to settle in major towns across Unity State.

He appealed to the community to remain patient as the state government works to mobilize resources and address the pressing humanitarian needs.

The visit comes as Unity State continues to receive returnees, increasing pressure on local authorities and humanitarian partners to provide basic services and facilitate sustainable reintegration.
