South Sudan Deputy Foreign Minister Holds Farewell Meeting With UNMISS Official

South Sudan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Akuei Bona Malwal held a farewell meeting Monday with Graham Maitland, officer-in-charge of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, UNMISS, and acting deputy special representative of the U.N. secretary-general for political affairs.

Malwal commended Maitland for his service and contribution to cooperation between South Sudan and the United Nations.

The Deputy Minister also expressed appreciation for the U.N.’s continued support to the people of South Sudan.

Maitland thanked the South Sudanese government, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, for its cooperation and engagement during his tenure.

He reaffirmed the United Nations’ commitment to supporting South Sudan’s efforts toward peace, stability and development.

Malwal wished Maitland success in his future endeavors and reaffirmed South Sudan’s readiness to maintain close cooperation with the United Nations.
