FIFA Imposes Financial Sanction on South Sudan Football Federation
FIFA has imposed a financial sanction on the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) after the federation failed to comply with a ruling issued by the FIFA Football Tribunal in case FPSD-23185, involving former South Sudan Women’s National Team head coach Sidi Mohamed of Morocco.
According to South Sudanese sports journalist Alfred Lufar, FIFA had earlier ordered the SSFF to pay USD 5,000 within a specified deadline and warned that failure to comply would result in disciplinary measures.
In a FIFA decision dated 21 July 2026, the world football governing body confirmed that the SSFF had failed to make the required payment.
As a result, FIFA has imposed a 20% reduction in the federation’s FIFA Forward funding, with the sanction set to take effect from January 2027.
Based on Lufar’s report, the penalty will see the SSFF lose approximately USD 130,000 from its expected USD 650,000 FIFA funding allocation.
