South Sudan Delegation Departs for AU Extraordinary Health Summit in Ghana
South Sudan’s Minister of Health, Hon. Luke Thompson Thoan Teny, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Amb. Akuei Bona Malwal, departed Juba International Airport on Monday for Accra, Ghana, to participate in the Extraordinary Session of the African Union Assembly scheduled for 21–22 July 2026.
The ministerial delegation will represent South Sudan at the high-level meeting, which will focus on the theme: “Ending AIDS by 2030, Addressing Preventable Maternal Deaths, Communicable and Non-Communicable Diseases Endemic to the Continent, and Strengthening Health Systems by 2030.”
The summit is expected to bring together African leaders, ministers and health experts to discuss strategies for improving health outcomes across the continent, accelerating progress toward ending AIDS, reducing preventable maternal deaths, tackling communicable and non-communicable diseases, and strengthening national health systems.
The delegation was seen off at Juba International Airport by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Agnes Adlino Orifa Oswaha, alongside other ministry officials.
