People,s United Forum Inaugurates Interim Leadership, paving the Way for a Brighter Future

Juba, October 18, 2023 – The People’s United Forum (PUF) marked a significant milestone as it inaugurated its interim leadership in Juba on Monday, October 16, 2023. Established on July 27, 2022, the PUF has swiftly gained momentum and established its leadership in several key states, including Jonglei, Central Equatoria, Lakes, Eastern Equatoria, Upper Nile, Unity, Northern Bahr El Ghazal, and Western Bahr El Ghazal.
The inauguration ceremony, held in the heart of Juba, was a momentous occasion that brought together party members, supporters, and distinguished guests. The event showcased the PUF’s commitment to fostering unity, promoting peace, and driving positive change in the region.
With the installation of its interim leadership, the PUF emphasized its dedication to inclusivity and democratic principles. The newly inaugurated leaders have been carefully chosen based on their experience, integrity, and dedication to the PUF’s vision of a prosperous and harmonious South Sudan.
As a non-signatory to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ACRSS), the PUF has taken a bold stance on pursuing its own path towards sustainable progress and development. However, despite not being a signatory, the PUF has decided to participate actively in the upcoming elections, demonstrating its commitment to democratic processes and the will of the people.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Gai Chol Paul, The Chairperson of People’s United Forum, expressed gratitude to the party’s members and supporters for their unwavering dedication and belief in the PUF’s mission. He stated, “Today, we stand united as a forum of the people, ready to take charge and lead South Sudan towards a brighter future. We firmly believe in the power of unity, dialogue, and democratic principles to overcome the challenges and bring about positive change for all our citizens.”
The PUF’s interim leadership is poised to work tirelessly to address the pressing issues facing South Sudan, including but not limited to, economic development, security, and social welfare. The party aim to sensitize the civil population to know their democratic rights and freedom required to fully participate in political processes, including the right to vote, freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom of the press, and the right to run for political office.
The PUF’s participation in the upcoming elections is a testament to its commitment to democracy and its belief in the power of the people to shape their own destiny. The party seeks to engage with voters, listen to their concerns, and develop policies and strategies that truly represent the aspirations and needs of the South Sudanese population.
As the PUF embarks on this new chapter, it invites all South Sudanese citizens, regardless of their political affiliations, to join hands in building a prosperous and peaceful nation. The party is eager to collaborate with other political entities, civil society organizations, and international partners to create an enabling environment for progress and sustainable development.
“We can build a better South Sudan when we unite, stop supporting unscrupulous tribal politicians, and adopt the principles of stewardship, inclusivity, liberty, and transparency and accountability” the party principles stated.
The party is working toward the mission of transforming South Sudan from war ravaged country to peaceful, democratic, and prosperous country.
