CAF official visits South Sudan as women’s football enters new phase

Confederation of African Football Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu arrived in Juba on Saturday for his first official visit to South Sudan as the country prepares to launch its inaugural Women’s Premier League.

Adamu was received at Juba International Airport by South Sudan Football Federation President Francis Amin Michael, along with members of the federation’s Executive Committee and Board.

The visit comes as South Sudan prepares to formally launch its first Women’s Premier League, marking a new phase in the development of organized women’s football in the country.

Adamu is also expected to attend the handover of a new facility at Libya One Primary School supported by the Motsepe Foundation.

The school block was constructed as part of efforts to use sports and community infrastructure to support children and local communities.

Amin welcomed Adamu’s visit, saying it provides an opportunity to showcase progress in football infrastructure, competitions and administration while discussing additional support for the development of the sport in South Sudan.

Adamu said his visit was focused on witnessing key football development activities in the country.

His programme includes the launch of the Women’s Premier League and the handover of the school facility, highlighting efforts to expand women’s participation in football while using sports infrastructure to benefit local communities.
