Police on Tuesday arrested two men with hearing impairment after they were found with two stolen rams at Dokul Boma of Aweil East County.
Lual Thou, the deputy police inspector in Madhol payam said he nabbed the two men with two rams on their motorbike who attempted to flee upon questioning them where they were heading.
“I got the two men and they just told me the rams belong to them but they are known in the area as thieves. So it is my first time to get two deaf thieves,” Thou told Juba Echo.
He appealed to members of the public to be vigilant as cases of cattle theft are on the rise due to economic hardship.
Residents in Madhol payam have been complaining of rise in incidents of cattle theft.
The stolen animals are often transported for sale in Juba, according to residents.
