The vice president for gender and youth cluster Rebecca Nyandeng De mabior has embarked on zero grazing system for Persian dairy cows, Albino Bol Dhieu, the minister for Youth and Sports told journalists at the Vice president’s house after the tour of her dairy farm.
“Today, her Excellency the vice president invited all the cluster ministers, the undersecretaries and the staff to show them them the zero grazing farm that she has established,” said Dhieu.
He added that, the vice president is bringing the Persian cattle from Kenya and some are coming from Sudan noting that, this is a pilot project with great potential to succeed in the fight against food insecurity as it is capable of producing good quality and quantity of milk and meat.
Dhieu said that an estimated 45 million herds of cattle are not having good meat and milk, citing introduction of zero grazing technology as the only way to improve the quality of meat and milk in South Sudan.
“It is a mini zero grazing farm that demonstrates the importance of developing and multiplying this kind of project in different areas, it will reduce issues of cattle raiding and also give quality resources that will eradicate hunger and poverty,” he underlined.
He urged the youths of South Sudan to embrace Agriculture more especially animal production so that the country can be on the right track on economic progress whereby its products can be used in the country and the surplus exported to external markets.
