South Sudan Strengthens Boundary Demarcation Capacity Through GIZ-Supported Training

South Sudan is strengthening national capacity in boundary demarcation following the completion of a GIZ-supported training on the use of Leica GS18 T RTK technology.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Agnes Adlino Orifa Oswaha, presided over the closing ceremony of the training in Juba on Aug. 21, 2026.
The training brought together 15 surveyors from South Sudan’s 10 states and provided practical instruction on the use of modern surveying technology for boundary demarcation.
In her closing remarks, Oswaha congratulated the participants and thanked GIZ and the facilitators for supporting the training.
Speaking on behalf of the foreign affairs minister, she emphasized the importance of building national expertise to support peaceful and effective boundary management.
Oswaha also welcomed continued cooperation with development partners and expressed hope that South Sudanese experts would increasingly share their knowledge and experience with counterparts in the region and beyond.
The training is expected to contribute to South Sudan’s efforts to strengthen technical expertise and improve the management of boundary-related issues.
