South Sudan, Russia Reaffirm Strategic Partnership Ahead of Russia–Africa Summit
South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, on Tuesday held a courtesy meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Russian Federation to South Sudan, Mr. Dmitrii Gusev, in Juba.
The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between South Sudan and Russia, with discussions covering cooperation in agriculture, humanitarian assistance, energy, and other areas of mutual interest.
During the talks, Minister Morgan officially confirmed the participation of President Salva Kiir Mayardit in the upcoming Russia–Africa Summit, scheduled to take place in Moscow later this autumn.
As South Sudan and the Russian Federation prepare to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and expanding collaboration across key sectors.
The Russian Federation also reiterated its support for South Sudan’s forthcoming general elections, underscoring its commitment to continued engagement with the country.
