Governor Adil Launches Cross-Border Peace Mission to Strengthen Security, Civilian Protection, and Trade with Uganda

Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has embarked on a high-level mission to Kajo-Keji County aimed at strengthening cross-border peace, security cooperation, and regional stability with Uganda’s West Nile authorities.
The two-day engagement brings together South Sudanese officials and Uganda’s Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) from the neighboring West Nile region to enhance coordination on border security, civilian protection, and peaceful coexistence between communities living along the shared frontier.
The visit follows recent tensions involving the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF), which led to a border standoff and the displacement of thousands of civilians in Kajo-Keji amid ongoing territorial disputes.
According to state officials, the primary objective of the mission is to develop practical and lasting solutions to cross-border security challenges through joint patrols, improved information sharing, and strengthened cooperation between local authorities on both sides of the border.
Governor Adil is also expected to assess the humanitarian situation of displaced families in Kajo-Keji, coordinate support for affected communities, and promote initiatives that will restore stability and public confidence in the border region.
As part of the mission, the governor will travel to Uganda’s West Nile region to meet authorities in Arua, Moyo, Yumbe, Adjumani, and Koboko districts. The discussions will focus on enhancing security collaboration, facilitating cross-border trade, resolving territorial concerns, and fostering peaceful relations among neighboring communities.
State officials said the visit reflects the shared commitment of South Sudan and Uganda to building stronger bilateral cooperation, protecting civilians, and creating an environment conducive to peace, economic growth, and sustainable development along the common border.
