China–Chad Food Festival Successfully Held in N’Djamena

The China–Chad Food Festival and Soluxe Cuisine Caravan International Tour, jointly hosted by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Chad and CNPC Africa Company, was successfully held on 21 December in N’Djamena, the capital of Chad.

Held under the theme “Savor Chinese and Chadian Cuisine, Share the Soluxe Taste, Deepen China–Africa Friendship,” the event aimed to promote cultural exchange through cuisine and to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Chad. More than 400 guests attended, including Chinese Ambassador to Chad Wang Xining, representatives of the Chadian government, Chinese-funded institutions and enterprises in Chad, local partners, and guests from various sectors.

In his remarks, Ambassador Wang noted that food is a universal language that transcends borders and serves as an important bridge between peoples. He said the festival was not only a vivid expression of China–Chad friendship, but also a concrete example of growing people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries. He highlighted CNPC’s role as a key participant in bilateral energy cooperation, emphasizing that while advancing economic collaboration, the company has actively supported cultural exchange initiatives and contributed to closer ties between the two peoples.

The event featured a rich and lively program. Students from the Confucius Institute at the University of N’Djamena presented a Chinese fan dance, “My Motherland,” alongside traditional Chadian music and dance performances. A guzheng performance titled “Splendor of a Prosperous Era” showcased the elegance of traditional Chinese music, while a Chinese-language song performed by a Chadian employee of Soluxe Hotel N’Djamena received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

At the Soluxe Kitchen culinary demonstration area, Chinese and Chadian chefs jointly showcased the preparation of signature dishes, including Lanzhou hand-pulled beef noodles, Beijing roast duck, traditional Chinese pastries, and Chadian-style roasted turkey. The chefs’ refined techniques drew widespread praise, allowing guests to experience firsthand the distinctive culinary traditions of both countries.

The festival also featured a Chinese traditional culture experience zone. A traditional Chinese medicine booth attracted many local visitors eager to experience acupuncture therapy, while live demonstrations by Chadian artisans offered Chinese guests an opportunity to appreciate the diversity and creativity of African art.

In addition, a comprehensive product exhibition area set up in the hotel plaza and lobby showcased tourism products from Soluxe Hotel N’Djamena, Huawei solar energy equipment, agricultural products from China’s agricultural assistance program to Chad, and other featured goods. The exhibition highlighted the tangible outcomes of pragmatic cooperation and the steady growth of economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.

Chadian guests warmly congratulated the organizers on the successful event and expressed appreciation for China’s long-standing support for Chad’s economic and social development. They noted that the festival was not only a culinary celebration, but also a meaningful cultural dialogue that demonstrated the openness and inclusiveness of Chinese culture and injected new momentum into the China–Chad strategic partnership.
