President Kiir travels to South Africa
President Salva Kiir Mayardit has on Saturday left for South Africa.
President Kiir’s office says he is traveling to the Republic of South Africa for high-level engagements with his counterpart, President Cyril Ramaphosa, as South Sudan continues preparations for the December 2026 General Elections.
The president’s office further says the visit will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to review the progress made so far in South Sudan’s electoral preparations, exchange views on the political and electoral process, and discuss continued cooperation in support of a peaceful, credible and democratic transition.
