South Sudan, Africa CDC Strengthen Cooperation on Public Health Security

South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, met Thursday with the Africa CDC country representative in South Sudan, Dr. Tolbert G. Nyenswah, to discuss cooperation on public health security.

The meeting focused on disease surveillance, emergency preparedness and response, laboratory systems and capacity building for health workers.

Morgan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention to support public health security and build more resilient health systems.

Nyenswah thanked the ministry for its support and reaffirmed Africa CDC’s commitment to its partnership with South Sudan.

The meeting underscored the importance of continued coordination between South Sudan and Africa CDC in strengthening the country’s capacity to detect, prevent and respond to public health emergencies.
