The Commissioner General of the South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA), Ambassador Moun Deng Ajuet, has urged customs officers and revenue-generating institutions operating at the Nimule border to double their efforts in supporting the country’s economy through increased non-oil revenue collection.

Ambassador Moun made the remarks during his first official visit to Nimule, where he met with heads of customs units and government agencies operating at the border.

The visit aims to reinforce government directives, including measures to end tax exemptions for subcontractors, strengthen discipline, improve operational efficiency, and ensure full compliance with national tax policies.

The Commissioner General commended customs officers and other revenue-generating institutions at the border for their continued contribution to national revenue mobilization.

“Today we are here to say thank you for your support, and I am here to urge you to double your efforts because our country needs your support, especially the non-oil revenue. We need them because our economy depends on both revenues,” Ambassador Moun said.

He emphasized that strengthening non-oil revenue collection remains critical to supporting government operations and reducing dependence on oil revenues.

The Commissioner General’s visit to Nimule also focused on enhancing coordination among government agencies operating at the border and ensuring that all institutions adhere to national policies aimed at improving revenue performance.
