IGAD Executive Secretary, Council Members Visit Djibouti President

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) executive secretary and members of the Council of Ministers paid a courtesy visit to Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the regional bloc’s 74th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Ministers.
IGAD Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu and council members met Guelleh, who chairs the regional organization, in Djibouti, according to South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The visit provided an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of regional cooperation and IGAD’s role in advancing peace, stability and shared priorities across the region, the ministry said.
The delegation also toured the construction site of IGAD’s new headquarters, where it received a briefing on the progress of the project.The visit took place Sept. 15, 2026.
