The government has finalized key preparations for the launch of the Inter-Party Dialogue, a process aimed at fostering political consensus and supporting the country’s transition toward elections.
Speaking to the media, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro said significant progress has been made since President Salva Kiir established the Inter-Party Steering Body and the Inter-Party Steering Committee earlier this year.
Dr. Lomuro revealed that a comprehensive work plan, concept note, and methodology document have been completed to guide the dialogue process and support preparations for the country’s elections.
According to the minister, five technical committees have been established to address critical issues that will form the basis of the dialogue.
The committees cover Legal and Constitutional Affairs, Political and Governance Affairs, Electoral and Institutional Preparedness, Stakeholder Engagement, and Security and Civic Space.
“The committees are working every day to produce the first recommendations on areas that will be discussed during the dialogue,” Dr. Lomuro said.
He added that organizers have proposed a launch date and identified participants, including regional leaders and political stakeholders expected to attend the opening ceremony in Juba.
Dr. Lomuro said the dialogue is expected to produce a blueprint that will guide South Sudan during the post-election period and strengthen democratic governance.
He assured citizens that the Inter-Party Steering Body and the five committees are working closely together and promised regular updates on the progress of preparations in the coming weeks.
The Inter-Party Dialogue is seen as a key step toward building political consensus and ensuring a peaceful path to South Sudan’s anticipated elections.
