President Kiir Directs Immediate Action on Bahr el Ghazal Development

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed government officials to take immediate steps to address key development challenges affecting communities in the Bahr el Ghazal region, following a comprehensive briefing by Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi Akol.
During a meeting at the State House in Juba on Wednesday, Vice President Abdelbagi, who also chairs the Service Delivery Cluster, presented findings from his recent assessment tour of several areas across Bahr el Ghazal, where he engaged local communities to gather their priority concerns. The Vice President reported that residents heavily emphasized the urgent need for:
Infrastructure; Improved road networks to connect isolated communities.
Basic Services: Greater access to clean and safe drinking water.
Livelihoods: Enhanced support for local agricultural communities to boost food security.
Abdelbagi also briefed the President on delicate peace building efforts along the border areas, specifically focusing on co-existence initiatives among the Dinka Malual, Misseriya, and Rizigat communities.Coordinated Government Response.
In response to the findings, President Kiir instructed Vice President Abdelbagi and the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Africano Mande Gedima, to work in close coordination to design and deploy targeted government interventions.
To guarantee accountability, the President further directed that regular progress reports be submitted to his office to ensure the effective implementation of these development initiatives and the timely resolution of community grievances.
The briefing additionally covered broader socio-economic priorities, highlighting the need for targeted youth and women empowerment programs alongside the expansion of regional employment opportunities.
The Executive meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to responding to grassroots priorities, signaling a renewed focus on infrastructure development, essential social services, and sustainable peace across South Sudan.
