State parliamentarians urges to advocate for human rights at the grassroot

Members of Parliament for Central Equatoria State have been directed to transferred the knowledge of human rights related issue to the people at the grassroot.

The directive that comes from Speaker of the State August house and State Advisor on Human Rights came following a three days training  of state parliamentarians on human rights.

“The knowledge you have gained should be focus mainly on the force marriage and some of  bad culture that stop girls child from going to school  and should be transfers to our people in the grassroot because the human rights related issue target all corner of the human’s life,” Speaker of State Assembly of Central Equatoria State  told the MPs during the closing of the training organized by the Hold the Child with  the funding  from British government on Wednesday.

“You have to deliver services through oversight because it’s your main role as members of parliament,”he added.

Meanwhile State Advisor on Human Rights,Valentino Pitia  said that the state members of parament should be the ambassadors of the human rights in their respective constituencies.

“You should transfer the knowledge to the people down there so that they can be sensitized on the human rights matter,”he said.

Elizabeth Enoka Lubang one of the Parliamentarians said that training was the eye openers to MPs because they are the laws of the people.

“This should not be end we are requesting for more training so that when we are out there, we can be presented as required,” she said.

Hold the Child Representative, Samuel Ondoma Anguyo advised members of parliament to the peace maker by advocating for peace and human rights related issue.

“Be a  good peace maker .Let us advocate for peace in a peaceful way,”he said.

Added “Let advocate for none violent to bring peace in our country.
