By Denis Ejulu

Tecno South Sudan, in partnership with MTN South Sudan, has launched the Camon 40 smartphone, bringing excitement to local consumers in Juba, the capital of South Sudan.

The launching ceremony, which took place on May 14 at the offices of Juba Echo Television, brought buzz and excitement to the market as the golden sleek phone was unveiled for the first time in the youngest nation.

Henry Khamis, Tecno brand manager in South Sudan, told Juba Echo that the Tecno Camon 40 is more than just a device, but an intelligent companion built for a modern lifestyle with a cutting-edge camera that captures astounding photos in any lighting condition.

“The Camon 40 lets you turn everyday moments into extraordinary memories. Its long-lasting battery ensures you stay connected throughout your day, while its sleek, ergonomic design fits perfectly into your hands,” Khamis said while describing the features of the phone.

“We are not just a smartphone company; we are a global force for change in mobile technology,” he added, noting that Tecno has grown from a visionary startup into one of the most trusted and fastest-growing smartphone brands across Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.

Khamis emphasized that what sets Tecno apart from other brands is its deep connection with local consumers.

“We do not just sell phones; we deliver innovation, high quality, and affordable solutions to meet the unique needs of every market,” he disclosed.

The phone has a golden thickness, weight, and ratio, helping capture clear photos even during speedy actions. Additionally, this phone is waterproof, as it is protected when dipped in water.

Michael Amou, managing director of Tecno South Sudan, said they have unveiled a product of high quality that is affordable to end-users in the local market. “We are proud to continue empowering users with high-quality, affordable Camon 40 series. With Tecno, you don’t just get a smartphone; you join a movement that believes in bigger dreams and staying connected without limits,” Amou said.

The first Tecno smartphones were introduced in the South Sudan market in 2012.

Amou mentioned that they plan to extend the smartphones to the 10 states and three administrative areas.

Adam Stanley, digital device manager for MTN South Sudan, said the Tecno Camon 40 smartphone comes with free MTN internet bundles for a period of three months.

“When you buy the Camon 40, the first time you put your SIM card in the phone, you get 3GB internet bundles for free from MTN for a period of three months,” Stanley said.

Khamis Waiwai, a representative of MTN South Sudan, said they are committed through their partnership with Tecno to ensure that every household is connected to the internet.

“We are focusing on connecting different institutions to the digital world. One area where we have achieved success is by ensuring that we have our connect stores across the country. Through our partnership with Tecno, we will ensure that they are able to have all the stocks across the country,” Waiwai said.
