Rubkona County records more than 800 cases of cholera.

Rubkona County in Unity State has registered 815 cholera cases in Rubkona primary health care Centre
The Rubkona County’s Director for Health, al Kuol Malow told Juba Echo that his office recorded 112 cases of cholera and 7 deaths cases on December 11, 2024 alone.
He said that the total death cases as a result of the disease is now 17.
“We are in a serious situation, we are lacking spaces for admitting patients, children and elderly people are the most affected by the cholera.” Said Rubkona County Director for Health, Jal Kuol Malow.
Jal added that out of 815 recorded cases, 286 cases are still active and 514 were discharged.
“As I am talking now more and more cholera patients are coming, we are the most affected county among seven counties of Unity State.” Jal said in an interview with Juba Echo in Rubkona County health office.
He said cholera is spreading rapidly in Rubkona county due to poor sanitation caused by flooding and open defecation.
