The conference on comprehensive sexuality education aimed to raise awareness about prevention of sexual transmitted infectious diseases among young people commenced at imperial hotel in Juba on Tuesday.
“We are here to raise awareness on comprehensive sexuality education, and also to advocate to the leaders and to the government about the sexuality education. We have issues of GBV, rape, unintended pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections and other infections,” Santino Fot, the HIV Program Manager for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) told The Juba Echo on the sideline of the conference at Imperial Hotel in Juba.
“My message to our parents is to give information about sexual health to their adolescents and community leaders to support youth to access reproductive health services and government to increase the coverage in the country,” he said.
Kevin Abalo, the Executive Director for Resilience Organization, said the conference will equip youth with knowledge on sexuality education, adding that adolescents should be encouraged to use sexual reproductive health.
“There is no need to discourage your child from using sexual reproductive health methods, it saves life, it reduces the risk of sexual transmitted infections and reduces the risk of death. We want every young person to benefit from sexuality education,” she said.
