Government sets certificate of secondary education exams on March 20th
The Ministry of General Education and Instruction has announced March 20th as the date for the start of the certificate for secondary education examination across the country.
Awut Deng Acuil, the Minister of General Education and Instruction during press conference on Friday said that a total of 35,459 candidates are eligible for the exams.
“I wish to inform the candidates , parents all stake-holders and general public that all the processes of academic year 2022-2023 certificate of secondary education examination have been put in place, and examination administration dates have been fixed starting from March 20th till 31st,” Acuil said in Juba.
The exams will be attended by 22,920 males [64.6%] and 12,539 females [35.4%] in 398 schools.
Acuil said examination invigilators, monitors, security and police should do their utmost work to ensure credibility and integrity during the lengthy examination period.
“I wish the monitors and security personnel play a pivotal role in helping to ensure that security is maintained. Since last year we have not had issues of insecurity about the examination, and I want it to be implemented seriously,” she said.
Acuil said she was concerned with the meager number of candidates sitting for their senior four exams in Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) which has only 42 candidates.
GPAA has over the past years had some of the worst figures in the number of students enrolling in school due to insecurity and early child marriages.
“As a country, we will do our level best to make sure that they (GPAA) are part of the development of the country and the only ways to be part of this development is to empower them through education,” Acuil said.
She vowed that next year they will strive hard to see more school enrolment in GPAA.
