CEPO appeals Transitional National Legislature Assembly to enact specific law
The Executive Director for Community Empowerment, Progress Organization (CEPO) calls on National Parliament, to enact a specific law to criminalize a practice in the country.
Edmond Yakani, told Juba Echo that the practice has become a source of human slavery and human trafficking deadly.
“Human violence in our country, the practice is child and a woman been abducted regularly in some parts of our country and evidence are coming. Very clear that in the period of six months of communal violence, it’s between the communities of Jonglei and greater Pibor areas, two thousand persons, who are women and children are registered as abducted,”
He added that the recent violence, in some part of Upper Nile, Shilluk Kingdom leaders has come forward and say also, there are certain experiencing women and children in the community of being abducted by communities are attacked their community. So, this practice is becoming inhuman. It’s becoming a human trafficking is becoming a source of daily and human violence. “Our National Parliament, don’t smile for this practice. Take action now and action. We need from you as a nationalist is that criminalize this practice of child and a woman being adopted. This practice some of you may say yes already. We have laws that exist in South Sudan and have criminalized this practice know who our call is. Make a specific law to criminalize this practice where we see children and women being abducted and they become slaves. And they’ve been trafficking by their fellow own citizens within the country. We must take action now is a leader to criminalize this practice without any fear or favour,”.
