Traffic police threatens to auction impounded motorcycles in Aweil
Traffic police in Aweil town of Northern Bahr El Ghazal state have threaten to auction over 30 motorcycles that were impounded due to violation of traffic road rules.
Abuk Maria Akuei, a traffic police officer said the motorcycles have stayed at the police since 2021 without their owners turning up to collect them.
“I want to explicitly make it clear that the motorcycle owners have been shying away from coming to us. Our intention is to ensure that they come and see the nature of penalties that the traffic laws say. The fines are not heavy, so we urge you the people who have motorcycles to come to us,” she told journalists in Aweil town on Monday.
“If the owners don’t come we will sell them or auction them out,” Akuei added.
