SPLA-IO says it’s ready to abandon illegal checkpoints

SPLA IO spokesperson,Col. Lam Paul Gabriel says SPLA-IO did not refuse to remove illegal checkpoints
He mentions that there was no consensus between the SSPDF and the SPLA IO command for the removal of these checkpoints.
Col. Lam’s remarks comes after SSPDF accused SPLA-IO of refusing to abandon checkpoints that are mounted illegally and are those manning are notorious for illegally collecting money from road users.
Some of the checkpoints are also mounted across rivers where those using water transport are asked to pay taxes.
Both the SSPDF and SPLA-IO have in the past been accused of operating the checkpoints.
