South Sudan, Kenya Strengthen Bilateral Ties as Foreign Ministers Discuss Elections and Regional Cooperation
South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Amb. Dr. James Pitia Morgan, held high-level talks with Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, in Nairobi on Friday, focusing on bilateral relations, regional cooperation and South Sudan’s preparations for its upcoming general elections.
Dr. Morgan was accompanied by South Sudan’s Chargé d’Affaires a.i. in Nairobi, Ambassador Barnaba Bol Nyuol, and senior diplomatic staff from the Embassy of South Sudan.
During the meeting, the South Sudanese foreign minister briefed Dr. Mudavadi on the government’s ongoing preparations for the country’s general elections, reaffirming its commitment to delivering a peaceful, credible and democratic electoral process.
The discussions also centered on strengthening the longstanding diplomatic partnership between South Sudan and Kenya. The two sides explored ways to expand economic diplomacy, boost bilateral trade, improve regional infrastructure connectivity and enhance joint security cooperation.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration between the two neighboring countries, underscoring the importance of stronger political, economic and security ties in promoting shared prosperity and regional stability.
