This year’s council places particular emphasis on strengthening regional integration by expanding cross-border agricultural trade and improving market access for farmers across the bloc.
During the meeting, Minister Mbugoniwia and his regional counterparts are expected to review policies on intra-EAC agricultural exports, sanitary and phytosanitary standards, and measures to eliminate non-tariff barriers that continue to restrict the free movement of agricultural products within the region.
The outcomes of the council are expected to support closer regional cooperation and enhance efforts to build resilient food systems while creating new opportunities for agricultural trade among EAC member states.
