The final draw for the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup will take place on July 10 in Kigali, Rwanda, ahead of the regional club championship scheduled for July 24 to August 7.

The draw will be conducted at the Amahoro National Stadium Press Conference Room starting at 10:00 a.m. Rwanda time, with former Rwanda international and football legend Haruna Niyonzima assisting in the ceremony.

A total of 12 clubs from the CECAFA region will be divided into three groups of four teams. According to CECAFA Competitions Manager Yusuf Mossi, the winners of each group and the best-performing second-placed team will advance to the semi-finals.

Mossi said the tournament will provide clubs with valuable competitive preparation ahead of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, both of which are expected to begin in September.

CECAFA has also confirmed Singida Black Stars FC of Tanzania as the 12th and final team in the tournament. The Tanzanian side are the defending champions after defeating Al Hilal SC in the 2025 final held in Dar es Salaam, while APR FC finished third.

The participating clubs are APR FC and Rayon Sports (Rwanda); Simba SC and Singida Black Stars FC (Tanzania); Vipers SC (Uganda); Al Hilal SC and Al Merrikh SC (Sudan); Gor Mahia FC (Kenya); Mogadishu City FC (Somalia); Jamus SC (South Sudan); FC Garde Républicaine (Djibouti); and KVZ FC (Zanzibar).

South Sudan will be represented by Jamus SC, who will be aiming for a strong performance against some of East and Central Africa’s top clubs.
