Economic Reform Committee Visits Nimule to Monitor Implementation of Resolutions

A subcommittee of South Sudan’s High-Level Ministerial Committee on Economic Reforms has arrived in Nimule to assess the implementation of government resolutions aimed at improving the movement of goods and services along the Juba-Nimule trade corridor.

The delegation is led by Interior Minister Aleu Ayeny Aleu and includes Public Service Minister Ezekiel Lul Gatkuoth, Livestock and Fisheries Minister Onyoti Adigo Nyikwech, South Sudan Revenue Authority Commissioner General Moun Deng Ajuet and other senior government officials.

The visit is part of the committee’s oversight responsibilities following resolutions adopted by the High-Level Ministerial Committee on Economic Reforms.

The delegation is assessing the implementation of the resolutions along the Juba-Nimule highway and at the Nimule border, with particular attention to security, commercial traffic and the movement of goods and services.

The committee is also expected to meet with relevant government authorities and other stakeholders to identify challenges affecting implementation and ensure that agreed measures are enforced.

The visit comes as the government seeks to improve trade facilitation, strengthen revenue collection and administration, and ensure the uninterrupted movement of goods and services along one of South Sudan’s major trade routes.
