Central Equatoria Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has ordered the upgrading of three health facilities to expand access to health care across the state.

Under the gubernatorial order, Lainya Primary Health Care Centre will be upgraded to Lainya County Hospital, while Terekeka Primary Health Care Centre will become Terekeka County Hospital. Yei Civil Hospital will be upgraded to Yei State Hospital.

The upgrades are intended to expand access to emergency, maternal, surgical and inpatient services and reduce the need for patients in Lainya and Terekeka counties to travel to Juba for treatment.

The elevation of Yei Civil Hospital to state hospital status is expected to strengthen referral services, specialist care and public health coordination in Yei River County and surrounding areas.

The order directs the state Ministry of Health and respective county authorities to begin implementation, including improvements to infrastructure, staffing, medical equipment and supplies in line with national health standards.
