Central Equatoria sends team to assess situation of returnees in Upper Nile

The Central Equatoria State Governor on Thursday sent a high-level delegation from Juba to assess the situation of stranded returnees in Upper Nile state.

This was revealed by Andruga Mabe Saverio, the state information minister for Central Equatorial State after the weekly cabinet meeting in Juba.

“His Excellency, the governor has directed high level committee under the leadership of the minister of gender, child and social welfare and members from relief and rehabilitation commission to accompany her to Paloch, their task is to assess and acquaint themselves with the conditions faced by our displaced people from Khartoum,” Saverio said.

“Our people are stranded in Upper Nile state particularly in Renk and in Paloch following bitter war in Khartoum, those coming from Sudan are to be facilitated to come to Juba and subsequently to go to their places of origin,” he added.

Saverio said that the Central Equatoria state government is ready to support returnees.

“There is a need for us to work together in supporting our people, so that they are not subjected to vulnerability and agony. The state government stands with it’s people to alleviate their suffering so that they come back and build their state,” he said.
