South Sudan’s electoral commission kicked out over $ 720,000 rent arrears

South Sudan’s National Electoral Commission is about to be evicted over rent amounting to 720,000 U.S dollars.
“We are under high threat; the rent has not been paid,” Abednego Akok Kacuol, Chairperson of the commission told Juba Echo in Juba on Monday.
The commission is owed 270,000 dollars in rent for four years.
He urged the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to clear the rent arrears.
This very year another government agency the Anti-Corruption Commission was also evicted over failure to settle rent accumulated over years.
“The owner of the building can throw us out at anytime if he feels like,” Kacuol said.
“The rent has not been paid and I don’t why they are not doing that,” he added.
The National Electoral Commission was established in 2012 to provide legal framework for conducting democratic, peaceful, free and fair elections in the country.
