Governor Lobong urges peaceful co-existence in Eastern Equatoria

The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State Louis Lobong Lojore has called on local communities to denounce communal violence following a spate of killings since June.

Lobong made this appeal on Monday in Ramula Boma following the killing of two local humanitarian workers recently in Ikotos County.

“We want you to live in peace with all your neighbors, we need you to denounce violence because war is bad,” Lobong said during public rally held in Ikotos.

He directed communities in Ikotos to stop conflict with immediate effect.

Lobong warned that the state government will decisively deal with those found inciting or promoting violence in the area.

The conflict in Ikotos is largely between the Logir and Lango communities.

The High-level Security mission led by the Governor in Ikotos County aimed to address the rising insecurity caused by cattle raiding.

Marko Lodikor Lochapio, the State Minister of Peace Building called on the people of Ramula Boma to embrace peace and reconciliation.

Meanwhile, the people of Ramula Boma called on the government to help recover and return raided cattle.
