Over 20 youth entrepreneurs acquire business skills in Aweil

At least 25 young entrepreneurs have acquired business skilss after attending training in Mayen-Ulem Payam of Aweil North County in Northern Bahr e l Ghazal State.

The training was organized by Empower Youth Africa through support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Sweden Sverige’s efforts to restore livelihood and productive capacities as part of an integrated recovery and resilience response.

“I really did not approach my business with a plan. In this past week, I’ve learned how successful entrepreneurs act and how to apply those lessons. I now see opportunities all over instead of obstacles,” Yom Jel Agou, a beneficiary told Juba Echo on Tuesday.

Agou added that he plans to buy three motorbikes and also open up a restaurant.

“This training taught me if you are a committed and persistent person you can achieve your goal,” he said.

Atak Akech Garang, a 32 -year- old beneficiary, said the training program should be extended to other places of South Sudan to benefit more youth.

Anyuon Piol Tong, Empower Youth Africa Program Manager, said that their vision is not only to encourage youth to start up small businesses but to see them sustained in the long-term.

“We want to see these businesses grow, employ people and hopefully spread beyond Aweil,” Tong said.
