At least 27 former Central Equatoria State’s former government officials including X-governor, Gen. Agustino Jadalla Wani will face forceful eviction from the state’s premises soon.
Others included the former governor of Yei defunct state, Brig, Gen. David Lokongo, Gen. Semir Khamis, and former mayor of Juba City Council, as well as the former minister Francis Swoko, former commissioners Emmanuel Paul, and Francis Yusso,
The State Minister of Cabinet Affairs who doubles as the Chair of the eviction committee has directed the head of legal administration and the public prosecution attorney to administer force to remove the officials from the government houses.
According to the letter dated June 7, 2022, signed by Wayi Godwill Edward, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, the former officials have continued to occupy the houses despite no longer serving in the government of Central Equatoria State.
“Reference to my letter RSS.CES/L/SMCA/OM/39.A.1 dated March 07, 2022, addressed to the Head of Legal Administration and Public Prosecution Attorney, CES about the same, the Ministerial Committee on Eviction of Government Houses hereby directed your office to administer forceful eviction of the former government officials who continue to occupy CES government houses,” partly read the directive.
In October 2021, the Central Equatoria State government forcefully evicted the former Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, Rose Lisok Paulino from the government house.
However, yet unknown whether the state government has paid over SSP570 million post-work benefits demanded by the former Jubek State constitutional post holders, technical advisors, and top senior civil servants who served from 2016 to 2020.
Some of them like Ms. Lisok who was evicted by force but later occupied the house would want the state the government to pay their benefits before evacuation.
Most of the officials, including Gen. Jadalla lost their position when President Salva Kiir reverted the country to ten states in 2020.
