President Salva Kiir Mayardit has met with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement’s resource mobilization team as the ruling party steps up preparations for its third National Convention and the general elections scheduled for December.

The Sept. 10 meeting in Juba comes as the SPLM undertakes a broader reorganization aimed at strengthening its party structures and preparing for the upcoming elections.

President Kiir commended the SPLM national secretariat for what he described as its work in advancing the party’s reform agenda and strengthening its performance.

SPLM Secretary-General Akol Paul Kordit said the party plans to expand political mobilization beyond Juba-based networks and strengthen its engagement with communities across the country.

The move is expected to place greater emphasis on grassroots structures as the SPLM prepares for the December polls and its third National Convention.

The meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the ruling party to consolidate its organization and mobilization ahead of the elections.
