Central Equatoria Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Peace, Security and Good Governance

Central Equatoria State Gov. Emmanuel Adil Anthony has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security, protecting civilians and public assets, and improving service delivery ahead of the country’s general elections.

Adil chaired the state’s Extraordinary Council of Ministers meeting No. 6 of 2026 on Wednesday, where the Cabinet reviewed security and governance issues across the state.

The Council said security and stability had improved in Central Equatoria, although isolated incidents continued to occur and were being contained by authorities.

The Cabinet also approved, subject to amendments, the draft budget, Draft Appropriation Bill and Draft Financial Bill for the 2026-27 financial year.

The proposed state budget is 108.2 billion South Sudanese pounds.

The government said it would continue to prioritize peace, good governance, protection of public resources and effective delivery of public services across Central Equatoria.

The meeting comes as South Sudan prepares for general elections scheduled for December 2026.
