Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upgrading aviation infrastructure following an oversight visit to the ongoing renovation of the Juba International Airport terminal building.
Accompanied by Juba City Mayor Christopher Sarafino Wani, Governor Adil inspected progress on the renovation project, touring passenger lounges, arrival and departure halls, security checkpoints, and administrative offices.
Adil stated that the modernization of Juba International Airport remains a top priority to improve air transport services, enhance passenger comfort and safety, and drive economic growth.
“This renovation project is important for the development of our aviation sector and economic growth. We want travelers and investors to experience efficient and quality services at our airport,” Adil said, noting that the government is also considering long-term expansion plans to accommodate growing passenger volume.
He added that improving airport infrastructure is critical to strengthening South Sudan’s connectivity with regional and international markets, which will help attract foreign investment.
South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority Director General, Dr. Ayiei Garang Deng Ayiei, briefed the governor on the status of the works, stating that the project will significantly improve operational efficiency and passenger handling capacity.
According to aviation authorities, the ongoing upgrade includes modernized facilities, enhanced security systems, updated waiting areas, and improved working conditions for airport staff.
Adil commended the construction team for their progress and urged contractors to maintain high quality standards to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
