Civil Society Group welcomes Election Date

The South Sudan Civil Society Alliances (SSCSA) welcomes the announcement by the National Elections Commission (NEC) setting 22 December 2026 as the date for the National General Elections.

SSCSA calls for a free, fair, peaceful, and credible electoral process and appeals to the Government to provide the necessary funding and support to ensure the elections are conducted as scheduled.

We further urge the Government and all stakeholders to put in place the required political, legal, security, and logistical conditions necessary for a transparent, inclusive, and peaceful election. Timely completion of electoral preparations, prevention of violence, and measures to strengthen public confidence are essential to the success of the process.

SSCSA remains committed to supporting peaceful democratic processes and promoting active citizen participation throughout the electoral period.
