The Minister of National Security Affairs, Obote Mamur Mete has asked National Security Service (NSS) operatives to provide security and protection to all citizens regardless of their tribe or gender.
“We must protect all South Sudanese regardless of tribe, color or gender, we must put them equal, they are all South Sudanese,” said Mamur on Tuesday during the reception ceremony held in Juba for Akech Tong Aleu, the newly appointed Director General of the Internal Security Bureau of the NSS.
Akech Tong Aleu, the Director General for the Internal Security Bureau of the National Security Service, said all staff of the security agency must distance themselves from engaging in politics.
“As Director General for the Internal Security Bureau, I am grateful for the trust bestowed upon me by the president, we have to work on national interest, as provided by the constitution as amended, we must take responsibility to protect our country from external threats,” said Tong.
Tut Gatluak Manime, the Presidential Advisor for National Security Affairs said the national security service has so far done a good job in protecting the citizens and their properties in the country.
“The national security service officers have provided security during war, we are now in peace, and they maintain peace and protect the citizens of South Sudan. The external and internal security bureaus are moving in the right direction to provide security across South Sudan,” said Manime.
