South Sudan reviews transport bill to ensure road safety

The South Sudan government on Wednesday started reviewing of the National Transport Bill aimed to organizes the sector and also ensure safety on the roads.

The Minister of Roads and Bridges Simon Mijok Mijak said on Thursday during the end of the two-day workshop in Juba, that the transport sector is one of the most expensive areas that needs interventions from the government.

 Mijak said that the absence of transport laws remains is a major stumbling block to re-organize the transport sector and also ensuring safety.

The Undersecretary in the Ministry of Roads and Bridges, Mary Akech said that the National Transport Bill under review by the National Constitutional Amendment Committee (NCAC) aims to ensure road safety following rise in road carnage.

The National Constitution Amendment Committee is engaging with stakeholders to review the National Transport Bill of the country.
