Umbasi paramount Chief killed in a cold blood in Yei

Three (3 ) people have been reportedly killed in cold blood Thursday evening in Umbasi Boma, of Otokgo Payam, commissioner alleges it to the NAS.
The commissioner of Yei county Aggrey Cyrus said the incident was discovered on Friday morning when the community woke up to the scene.
“The people woke up this morning with sad news of grief over the death of chief Joseph Lagu Mannas, who is the acting executive chief of Umbasi Boma, He was killed together with Cosmas Liko and Joseph Luate who are both the traders and petty farmer at Yeiba village,” he said.
Cyrus said there has been rampant death recently in Umbasi with the most recent of 2 people and an SSPDF soldier.
“This incident follows another murder at Lata village where Stephen Remu last week and 1 SSPDF soldier who was murdered,” he said.
He said,“This rampant killing are caused by killers and terrors of peace that do not want peace in Umbasi, they are criminals and gangs of the NAS.”
He added that the incident has caused terror as some people are kept hostage in their homes, school children are not able to go to school and hospital been made inaccessible.
“The people of Umbasi are living like hostages, being denied peace and chief are being abducted, tortured, boda boda riders are being killed and women are robes,” he said.
He said the act has denied people their human rights and has forced other people to leave their homes due to fear.
He assured justice for the people of Umbasi for peace and security to be reinstalled back.
“The people of Umbasi are very much scared, threatened this murder of their beloved chief, however as a county we have up step, we want to investigate what has happened and who has carried it out, we will be hunting these criminals until we get justice and peace in Umbasi and we will pursue the cost of cost of justice and the cost of peace and we will find that,” he promised.
