The Director General for the Ministry of General Education and Instruction in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State, said they have filed a case in court against a parent for assaulting teachers who were trying to discipline the l;atter’s daughter at Maper East primary school.
Santino Bol Akot Nguel, the Director General in the Ministry of Education, said the violent incident that took place on Friday last week left school properties damaged and pupils injured.
He said the parent was enraged after learning of his daughter’s convulsion after being canned by teachers for indiscipline. The parent immediately rushed to the school and started to fight with the teachers.
Bol said they won’t tolerate indiscipline from parents at schools.
“The teachers were only trying to discipline his child and he was called up by his wife about the incident which resulted in the convulsion of his daughter. We don’t know whether this health condition has been with his daughter. We will go and find out what the law says about such incidents,” Bol told Juba Echo in an interview in Aweil town on Saturday.
He said the parent will have to answer in court for damage on school properties such as windows and injuries sustained by teachers and pupils during the scuffle.
Attempts to reach out to the accused parent were not possible by press time.
