More and more returnees are arriving in Rubkona County of Unity State as conflict spreads in neighboring Sudan.
Kupal Keah, the director general of the Unity state ministry of Information, said they have received 1300 returnees on Thursday in Rotriah North area of Unity State.
He told Juba Echo that these returnees arrived from Jebel Olliah of Sudan.
“We have already received 1300 returnees who came from Sudan from Jebel Olliah in Khartoum. More are expected to arrive on Friday June,” Keah said.
Keah said the returnees are in need of food, shelter and sleeping mats.
“Those who have arrived in Rotriah North have been registered by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and they will be resettled,” he said.
Several returnees who escaped conflict in Sudan are arriving across 12 crossing border points with only clothing on them.
South Sudan has so far received nearly 100,000 returnees and refugees from Sudan since outbreak of conflict in Khartoum on April 15.
